My Route for Mexico

I planned my route for Mexico month before leaving for the country, after I read about all the beautiful and interesting things there are. Unfortunately I found out, that I would need more than a year and become very stressed if I would follow that route strictly. Though I had to change and I have had time enough to do it, because I could not start travelling as soon as I wished.

Here is the route, how it really became:

I started in Tijuana (because it was my last destination of my RTW-trip, part 1)

Southbound: Baja California: Tijuana – Ensenada – Baja California Sur: Guerrero Negro – Mulegé – Loreto – La Paz

Southeast bound: Sinaloa: Los Mochis – Sonora: Hermosillo – Copper Canyon (Sinaloa to Chihuahua) – Chihuahua: Chihuahua – Hidalgo de Parral – Jiménez – Coahuila: Torréon – Saltillo – Nuevo Leon: Monterey – García – Santiago – Cola del Caballo – Tamaulipas: Ciudad Victoria – Tampico – Veracruz: Veracruz – Tabasco: Comalcalco – Villahermosa – Campeche: Ciudad del Carmen – Campeche – Yucatan: Merida – Valladolid – Quintana Roo: Cancun – Tulum – Playa del Carmen – Chetumal  –> Belize

Northbound: Back to Mexico (from Belize) – Quintana Roo: Escárcega – Chiapas: Palenque – San Cristobal de las Casas – Tuxtla Gutierrez – Oaxaca: Oaxaca – Puebla: Puebla – Cholula – Morelos: Cuernavaca – Distrito Federal de Mexico: Mexico city – Tlaxcala: Tlaxcala – Huamantla

Northeast bound: Veracruz: Xalapa – Coatepec

Southwest bound: Guerrero: Taxco

Eastwards bound: Distrito Federal de Mexico: Mexico City

Westbound: Estado de Mexico: Toluca

Eastbound: Hidalgo: Pachuca – Real del Monte – Tula – Huasca de Ocampo – Huejutla

Northbound: Queretaro: Queretaro – Pena de Bernal – Tequisquiapan – Jalpan de Serra – San Miguel Concá – San Joaquin – San Luis Potosi: San Luis Potoasi – Real de Catorce – Ciudad Valles – Xilitla

Southwest bound: Guanjuato: Guanjuato – San Miguel de Allende – Dolores Hidalgo – Jalisco: Guadalajara – Chapala – Teuchitlan – Tlaquepaque

Northbound: Aguascalientes: Aguascalientes – Calvillo

Southbound: Michoacan: Morelia – Estado de Mexico: El Oro – Michoacán: Santa Clara del Cobre – Pátzcuaro – Janitzio – Tzintzuntzan – Ihuatzío

Northwest bound: Colima: Colima – Tecomán – Comala – Manzanillo – Nayarit: Puerto Vallarta – Buscerías – Sayulita – Tepic – Sinaloa: Mazatlan

Northeast bound: Durango: Durango – Nombre de Díos – Paseo del Viejo Oeste – Chupaderos – Coahuila: Torreón

Southbound: Zacatecas: Guadelupe – Zacatecas – Michoacán: Morelia – Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, Ocampo

WestSouthWest bound: Distrito Federal de Mexico: Mexico City

By the way, I planned my route a little different. Anyway I decided to travel the inland of Mexico during the Hurricane season, which I also dit, but I did change it by the festivities or possibilities to see natural attractions, which I often became aware of by my couchsurfing hosts.

Actually I am planning to go back to Mexico, starting in Mexico City and see more of the states I have not seen so enough of.
